Problem with moving vertical lines using Inspector values on large spreadsheet

I have a VERY LARGE spreadsheet (horizontally long) with 15 years of data spread across the chart — I have used the Inspector function of “Metrics” to generate multiple vertical lines across the horizontal spreadsheet.  I had no problem in generating the lines or moving them around several days ago.  Suddenly I am experiencing an inability to move some of the far right lines around, using the Inspector Metrics Tab Start and End boxes, which dictate the distance of the vertical line from the left hand margin of the chart. I try to increase the distance in the Start Box, but then it won’t allow me to tab down or hit the Enter key into the End Box, to make the two distances equal.  The odd thing is that it only balks at accepting changes when I go greater than a value of 39.36 in (i.e., 39.37 and greater – it won’t accept changes in value in either the Start or End box.  ???  I can move the lines physically with my cursor, but doing it that way is very difficult to get an exact placement.

Has anyone had this problem with large spreadsheets before?  Again, it SUDDENLY balked on me – several days ago I was not having this problem and I have not had this problem with other equally lengthy (horizontally long) charts. I tried closing down the chart, closing down the application and reopening the chart, and I even shut down my entire computer and restarted.  But problem still exists.

Thank you for any input.
